Lemon - “Pop Culture With a Twist”

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

Last night I attended the Pecha Kucha hosted by the AIGA in Boston. There were some very interesting speakers but the guy who really stood out for me was Kevin Grady, founder of Lemon magazine. Kevin created Lemon with Colin Metcalf, and together they are also the fathers of GUM, an extremely cool (more than just a) magazine which features amazing illustrations and collectibles. I was extremely impressed with the idea behind Lemon - ‘Pop Culture With a Twist.’ Each issue focuses on a theme and this theme is carried on throughout the magazine, both stylistically and conceptually. The current issue pictured here focuses on Stanley Kubrick. There are great shots of models acting out characters in Kubrick’s movies.

Kevin gave us a preview of the new issue which will be based on David Bowie. Brilliant.

I advise anyone reading to make this and future copies part of their collection.

dot net magazine article 180

I was asked to write an article for this month’s issue of .net magazine, the UK’s biggest online magazine. I’m very honoured - thanks to Oliver the deputy editor for giving me the opportunity. Also a big thanks to my buddy Diana Levine for the photo. Pick up a copy if you can!
