Arriving home last night after a particularly stressful day, made only better by a detour to Urban Outfitters, I walked into my dining room and my attention was drawn to a fast moving object on the floor. It wasn’t an object though. Oh no. I had no freakin’ idea what spawn of satan bug this was… after swatting it with my havaiana (this bastard took two hits… it actually laughed at me) it was no more. Reduced to a sticky blob of goo on my hardwood floor.

So I looked on google for a bug finder tool. Being from the UK I am a pansy with bugs, the most threatening type we have are wasps. I don’t care for those much, but at least I know what they are. I found this site. After narrowing down my search using the process of elimination, I discovered this critter was classed as a Chilopoda, a house centipede. A centipede??? Are you KIDDING me? This thing was nasty! Apparantly they are not that dangerous, their bite is comparable to a bee sting. Right.
